Barekuri Hoolock Gibbon village

Barekuri is a village in the Tinsukia district of Assam, India, where the Moran community and Western Hoolock Gibbons live together in a remarkable example of human-animal coexistence:  It is located 19km from the east of Babblers Inn Tinsukia and is 475km away from the capital of Assam, Dispur. The village is surrounded by Tinsukia tehsil in the west, Kakopathar tehsil in the east, Guijan tehsil in the west and Itakhuli tehsil in the east.
